Little Miss Merry Christmas
This year marks the 9th annual Little Miss Merry Christmas fundraising contest. Throughout the month of November, contestants sell raffle tickets for a $500 Downtown Dollars shopping spree and solicit sponsorships from businesses and individuals to raise money for the Downtown Light & Decoration Fund. This contest was started by Carlsbad MainStreet to raise money to replace the city’s holiday decorations. The 2010 contest was the most successful year yet with over $11,000 raised. Since its inception, the Little Miss Merry Christmas contest has helped raise around $38,000 for holiday decorations. The winners are crowned on the Eddy County Courthouse lawn prior to the Electric Light Parade and have the contestants have the honor of leading the parade.
